Midcentury 1970s G Plan Sierra Cabinet

This teak piece was designed by E Gomme for G Plan, as part of the ever-popular ‘Sierra’ range. You can see the influence of his Scandinavian contemporaries on the design with its clean lines and midcentury simplicity. A useful cabinet with neater proportions but still offering lots of storage across its upper drawer and lower cupboard. Its height at 69cm would make it a great TV unit / media stand too. There are some light signs of wear, primarily on the top, but if you planned to add a TV or turntable, these would be barely noticeable.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have checked, cleaned and polished this piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood surfaces but otherwise the finish is all original. The top drawer is beautifully made with dovetail joints. It has a sectioned interior originally designed to house cutlery. The interior wood here is clean and tidy, the drawer glides easily and the handles are secured attached. The lower cupboard features an adjustable shelf. The doors are in very good order with secure handles, and hinges and closures in good working condition. Again, the cupboard interior is clean and tidy. There are some superficial blemishes, scuffs and scratches here and there but especially on the cabinet’s top. We have shown this across our photos. In the overall context of the piece they are not particularly noticeable and this wear and tear is reflected in our price. Do browse our photos though so you have a clear and honest picture of the condition and wear. The unit is very well-made and the G Plan label can be seen inside the drawer.
