Vintage G Plan 1960s Brandon Chest of Drawers in Light Oak

Designed by E Gomme for G Plan as part of its ‘Brandon’ range in the early 1960s, this is a super piece of British midcentury storage furniture that still looks fresh and contemporary. It’s made in light oak so a welcome change from the usual teak of this period and as such seems less ‘heavy’ than darker wood. The wood tone and the unfussy design are both neutral enough to mix with other pieces easily too. It’s in good, solid order with three generous, graduated drawers and a sectioned top drawer for organising your undies perhaps.

Description

This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the piece inside and out and applied a natural wax polish to the exterior surfaces to refresh its original finish. It features three graduated drawers, which slide with ease, are well crafted with dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors with just light signs of use. The top drawers is divided into three fixed sections. There are superficial marks, scuffs and light fading here and there to the exterior wood surfaces which can be seen across our photos. There is a shallow scratch on the top which we have also shown. There are no visible repairs to this chest of drawer and it is very solid and sturdy. As you would expect from G Plan it’s a really well-made piece. The original E Gomme for G Plan gold stamp can be seen inside the top drawer.
