Description
This is an original, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the chair, applying a natural beeswax to nourish the wood and restore some low sheen shine but otherwise the finish is original. The chair does have signs of wear and tear. This is mainly concentrated on the arms, as you would expect, where the finish has worn and faded somewhat with use. We’ve shown this in our photos. The aging and wear is superficial – blemishes, faded patches, light surface marks here and there. Do browse our numerous photos for an accurate sense of its order. The chair was intended to have a thick, custom-fit seat cushion about 3-4 inches tall. These are frequently discarded for a more contemporary look but as a consequence the seat height is low without a cushion of some sort. The poppers are still in place at the back and underneath if you wanted to add official Ercol cushions. As you would expect from Ercol, it’s superbly constructed in solid wood. There are no wobbles or joint concerns. The round gold Ercol sticker is sadly no longer in place, however it was acquired with a matching Ercol armchair and it dates from 1980s.
