Midcentury 1960s Teak Extending Dining Table by Vanson

A superb, every-day, vintage family dining table by Vanson that’s not too big / not too small and it comes with a hidden extension so it can grow to accommodate extra guests. There are some thoughtful design accents here like the gentle curve of the table top at its ends and the contoured edge, details that elevate this table. In its regular mode is can comfortably sit four and extended, six. It’s in great original condition and will partner easily with dining chairs of any period, such is its neutral, classic style.

Description

This original, vintage dining table is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good, used condition. The table has been checked, cleaned and natural wax polish applied to the table top and extension section but otherwise the finish is original and as such does comes with some light signs of wear and tear, shown across our photos. The extension is housed underneath the table and is accessed by pulling the two table halves apart. It’s then inserted into the gap and the two sides pushed back together to create a seamless table top. All mechanisms are in good working order. The extension is a touch darker than the two sides, a common issue with vintage tables. It’s simply because it’s been used less and hasn’t been as exposed to sunlight so hasn’t faded and worn in quite the same way. Overall, the table is in good order with minor signs of use. There are some faded patches here and there on the table top but nothing particularly noticeable. There are light scuffs and marks on the lower trim and legs too. It’s a well-made piece that’s solid and sturdy. There is no maker’s mark in place anymore but we believe this to be a Vanson table as it’s the same as ones we’ve previously sold. Do browse our numerous photos for an accurate sense of colour and condition.
