Vintage 1960s Beaver & Tapley Glass-front Teak Bookcase Cabinet by Robert Heritage

Designed by Robert Heritage for furniture maker, Beaver & Tapley Ltd in the 1960s, this is classic piece of Brit midcentury design. You can see the Scandinavian ‘form and function’ influence with its sleek, clean lines, but these are partnered with more traditional design elements like the cut of the legs. It’s made in teak, teak veneer and possibly a mahogany or dark oak base and legs. We love the pinstripes of grains on the sliding cupboard doors. Expertly made, it’s robust and sturdy, perfect for the family home and lots of use. If you don’t quite have a space for a sideboard or highboard then this cabinet could be the perfect compromise as you get a good width, loads of storage and display space but a shallow depth that won’t intrude into the room.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces. There are minor marks, scuffs and areas of faded finish but overall these are minimal, they’re not particularly noticeable and they are in line with the item’s considerable age. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of this piece’s super condition. The original maker’s label is in place. The two glass doors slide with ease in their runners and the interior wood is clean and today. Each bookcase section features an adjustable shelf. The lower cupboard isn’t sectioned, offering a long length of storage. Again, both wooden doors slide with ease in their runners and it’s clean and tidy inside. It’s well made with no signs of repair or areas of concern.
