Here’s a handsome, old-fashioned charmer for you… an Art Deco, tall glazed bookcase. Made by CWS Ltd, which stood for Co-operative Wholesale Society, they started making furniture in the late 1800s. Their designs were somewhat conservative, traditional and practical, especially through the war years but this piece is classically Art Deco in design with decorative curves and flourishes like those feet. It’s expertly constructed in a golden English oak with a richly patterned grain across the external surfaces. Behind the panelled glass doors are adjustable glass book shelves and the cupboard below gives you more generous storage. A fine, characterful piece that segues from vintage to antique.
