If you’re looking for an all-in-one office set-up, perhaps if you’re a student or work from home, then this has it all. Desk, shelves, drawers plus a lockable sections. An ex-military piece that’s 50+ years old, this was commissioned for use in barracks, bases and service establishments. Made by Mann Egerton, it’s extremely robustly constructed (it’s heavy!) as you might expect for a high-use, functional unit in that kind of environment. The design is rather industrial and utilitarian but there is a distinct nod to the aesthetic of the day. It’s not without midcentury character. A wonderful piece of heritage and history, as well as practical for the modern home. Of course you wouldn’t have to continue to use it as a desk – it can be serve well as a tall sideboard with the bureau repurposed as a drinks cabinet.
