Designed by E Gomme for G Plan, as part of the Sierra range, you can see he was influenced by his Scandinavian contemporaries… clean lines, midcentury simplicity, form and function. Freestanding, multi-functional units, such as this smart, 1970s one, are really versatile as they negate the need for built-in shelves and provide plentiful storage and display space. Tall but shallow, this model features a locking, glass door bookcase where the three shelves are adjustable with a further open shelf below; and a lower, double door cupboard with another shelf inside. It’s a two part, freestanding piece with the upper section simply sitting on the base. We love the original, pale green back panel, adding a subtle pop of colour.
