A fine piece of quality British midcentury design, this rectangular dining table dates from the early 1960s and comes with an exemplary pedigree, designed and made by Gordon Russell. Its proportions and design are neat and tidy, comfortably seating four and making it perfect for the kitchen or small dining area. Pull out the extension which resides cleverly underneath and insert in the middle to increase its capacity to six diners. The finish here is all original, with golden walnut stripes running the width of the table top to meet different wood on the borders and legs. It does come with some blemishes and sunlight fading on the table top which you’ll notice in our photos. Clearly this table has seen a lot of active service over the years but it has a great deal to offer still, especially for a home that wants a quality, preloved piece at a good price and not a table that you need to be too precious about. It would be ideal for a busy family household.
