Vintage 1960s Stag C Range Oak Vanity Stand with Drawers & Cheval Mirror

Designed by power couple, John and Sylvia Reid for Stag in the 1950s, this vanity stand is from their C (aka Cumberland) range and came into production in 1958. It’s an unusual piece that rarely comes up on the vintage scene days so it may have had a brief production run. Part chest of drawers, part dressing table, it was made for the bedroom / dressing room and creates a dedicated station for getting ready, right down to the hard-wearing, Formica-topped area for make-up and perfumes. We love the full-length cheval mirror and the refined design of the piece which, although asymmetrical, is perfectly balanced. The pale oak veneer makes a refreshing change from teak and as such creates a lighter looking item of domestic furniture. This is one of those pieces that looks both midcentury and contemporary – and that’s classic, timeless design.
