Vintage 1940s CC41 Tallboy Dresser

This British-made, oak piece is a vintage catch. Dating from the 1940s, it comes with bags of old-fashioned charm and character and it has much to offer – there is a great deal of practical storage within this tallboy cabinet. The design is simple and utilitarian but this makes it an easy piece to slot into a mixed style home. It was ‘Commodity Controlled’ produced item of utility furniture, made to comply with the war-time and post-war austerity scheme. This was at a time when resources, like wood, were scarce but the demand for essential domestic goods like clothes and furniture was high as so much was lost and destroyed during the war years. Furniture had to be manufactured to strict commodity-controlled (hence CC41) guidelines between 1941 – 1951. Solidly crafted in oak, this piece has lasted a lifetime but has many more years of service to go.
