These grand, traditional sectional bookcases are increasingly sought-after and collectable, coveted by bibliophiles or those with treasures to display behind glass doors. Originally designed for barristers, legal institutions and private libraries, they are cleverly crafted to be freestanding with shelves that simply stack on top of each other. Each section comes with a lift-up glass door that retracts back. This four tier bookcase was made by British maker, Gunn, who started manufacturing such pieces in the early 20th century so it comes with considerable age and character. And given this, its condition is quite remarkable. It’s in fantastic order throughout. We love that it’s in golden oak, rather than the usual, rather austere dark mahogany, making it more versatile and less imposing for a modern interior.
