This is a super rare and very special piece. Immediately recognisable from Stag’s highly desirable ‘Fineline’ range, we believe only a very small number of these vanity desks were ever made. Designed by power duo, John and Sylvia Reid, the Fineline collection was only made for a brief period between 1960 – 1963. It was rather ahead of its time in our view. Obviously Scandinavian-inspired, its minimalist design, tubular metal legs and the signature black bar along the bottom give it an industrial feel. Despite being nearly 60 years old, it looks really fresh and of the moment. This vanity desk is essentially as a compact, discreet dressing table with storage on the side across three graduated drawers, and with a lift-up desk that reveals further storage and mirror. Of course, it can simply be used as a desk. Indeed, the same design, minus the lift-up mirror and compartment was made as part of the Fineline range, also a rare model. This piece has been carefully restored to make that amazing, finely striped grain sing.
