Isn’t this a poppet? One we couldn’t resist. Hailing from the early 20th century, it shouts Art Deco, ticking all the signature design boxes of this period from its curves and dramatic frieze back to its chunky legs to its construction in oak. It could be used in many ways. Most obviously, it’s a compact, tidily proportioned desk with two drawers for organisation and a knee hole large enough to take a chair. It would also make a super console for an entrance hall, landing or behind a settee. And if you added a freestanding mirror to the table top, or positioned the table in front of a wall-mounted mirror, it could serve well as a small vanity stand. Utterly charming and full of character.
