A Younger Ltd was a British midcentury leader throughout the 1950s-1960s, producing low volume, high-end pieces, often retailed through Heals. In collaboration with John Herbert, it was one of the first to be influenced by its Scandinavian contemporaries and that shows in the design of these chairs. Herbert worked with Younger for many years producing several ranges of domestic furniture including his popular ‘Volnay’ collection which these chairs were part of. Crafted in dark, solid afromosia, these are substantial, supportive chairs, giving much comfort with their contoured backs and generous seat widths. This set includes one carver chair for the head of the table. We have upholstered the seat pads with a smart, charcoal grey, marl pure wool, a sophisticated, contemporary look for these fine midcentury chairs.
