An unusual piece from reputable British maker, Austinsuite, made in the late 1960s, this long, slim sideboard is really very elegant, sitting on particularly long, tapered legs. Quite possibly a dressing table in a former life (there are marks where a mirror may have screwed in place on the back), it’s now a beautiful sideboard with six generous drawers for storage. We love the flow of the grain across the drawer fronts – vertical on the smaller, side drawers and horizontal on the wide central ones. And the wood tone is gorgeous with golden, honey hues weaving across the surfaces, a welcome change from the more common red tones of teak. With a depth from the wall of just 43 cm and those legs creating lots of space underneath, it doesn’t feel like a bulky, heavy sideboard like so many mid century ones are.
