Vintage Walnut Double Door Tall Cabinet

This smart vintage cabinet is something of an enigma. We believe it’s a Morris of Glasgow piece such is the quality of walnut and it was acquired alongside other pieces by this maker. However, we think it may have been modified at some point over the decades. Our hunch is it was perhaps a taller storage cupboard or even a slim wardrobe that’s been shortened but with the top and bottom retained. Behind the double doors there was bays of shelves, the ones on the right are original, the ones on the left added. The modification has been very well done and at a glance you wouldn’t even know. It’s only if you scrutinise it, which we have as part of our checking process, you notice small clues. Regardless of this, the end result is a really useful, tall cupboard that looks very handsome on the outside – the walnut stripes are glorious – and is very practical on the inside. This is a vintage, repurposed piece that would work in any room from kitchen to bathroom to hallway to living room.
