Vintage Ercol Model 469 Bureau / Drinks Cabinet

This is such a handsome piece of Ercol furniture that continues to stand the test of time. Originally designed in the 1960s  and superbly crafted in solid elm, this writing bureau is in great original condition. And it can effectively function as a drinks cabinet too. It features a ‘fall’ pull-down door which reveals a sectioned, upper cupboard and the door creates a desk for writing or mixing drinks… or both! Below is a spacious two-door cabinet with an adjustable shelf, and generous, lower single drawer underneath. This multi-functional, versatile piece of furniture provides a lot of storage space and its clever, classic design means it’s not overtly a drinks cabinet or bureau – it could be used in any room from kitchen to bedroom or study. This particular piece dates from the 1970s.

Description

This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned the cabinet, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such great order. It features visible dovetail joints with the doors and fall fitted with full length hinges. The top cupboard interior is sectioned and is in clean, tidy order inside. The lower two-door cupboard also has a single adjustable shelf. There is a full width drawer at the bottom which slides with ease and it sits on the original shepherd castors to give good mobility. All interior wood is in very good, clean order, with just light signs of use. Likewise, the exterior wood is in good order too, with only very minor marks here and there in line with its age and purpose. We’ve shown a small dent near the top handle but it’s barely noticeable.  Do browse our photos for a good sense of its great order but if you’ve queries or would like to view this piece, please get in touch.
