Vintage Edwardian Golden Oak Compact Chest of Drawers

This sweet, vintage dresser may be compact in size but it still delivers generous storage across its three graduated drawers. It dates from the early 20th century, around the Edwardian period, so tips into ‘antique’ status. It’s very nicely made in a more traditional, neutral style so it won’t compete for attention with other furniture. Originally intended as a smaller complementary chest of drawers for the bedroom (it most likely went with a large matching partner, along with accompanying bedside stands), it could be very effectively repurposed as a bathroom washstand as the height for a washbasin on top is ideal.

Description

This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the piece inside and out and applied a natural wax polish to the exterior surfaces to refresh its original finish. It features three graduated drawers, which slide with ease, are well crafted with dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors with just light signs of use. The vintage brass filigree handles are securely attached and lightly tarnished with age. They are not the original handles but nor were those on it when acquired which were broken and mismatched so we’ve swapped them out for these of the same period. There are some small screw holes visible from the original handles placement which we’ve shown in our photos. There are superficial marks, scuffs and light fading here and there to the exterior wood surfaces which can also be seen across our photos. These very much add to its vintage appeal in our view and are what we would expect to see on a piece of this age. There are no repairs to this chest of drawers. It’s well-made, solid and sturdy.
