Vintage Early Midcentury Solid Oak Chest of Drawers
We’re always charmed by old-fashioned pieces of solidly-made furniture like this. These are the homes’ quiet, reliable workhorses, serving our needs with no fuss and frivolity, and they slot effortlessly into the modern home. It offers much storage with three spacious drawers and it’s an every-day piece with life’s knocks and marks on show so you don’t need to feel precious about it. Perhaps ideal for a child / teenagers room. Well-made on solid light oak, it’s British in original and dates from the 1940s-1950s.
Description
This original, used chest of drawers is ‘sold as seen’ and is in good, vintage condition. We’ve superficially cleaned this piece and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood, but have otherwise left the original finish alone, not wishing to do anything too invasive or that would remove its aged patina. The three drawers slide with ease and the six brass handles are securely affixed. The interior wood is a little marked in the top drawer but otherwise they are in clean, tidy order. The exterior wood is marked and scuffed, as you can see from our photos. There are some small water marks on the top surface, again these can be seen in our photos. This wear is very much in line with its age. It’s a really well-made piece of classic British furniture.
