Vintage Danish Large Black Leather Three Seat Sofa
Vintage leather is a great choice for a busy household where the main family sofa will get lots of use. It’s hard-wearing, easy to maintain and it get better with aging with surface wrinkles and wear adding to its character and charm. This sofa is large three at over 2m in width so there’s room for all, even the dog! The design is classic Scandinavian – clean-cut, unfussy and handsome with a sharp silhouette from all sides. We love the on-show wooden trim around the bottom edge. It’s a wonderfully comfy couch with generous proportions, perfect for stretching out on and it’s in fantastic condition with just light signs of wear and tear. It most likely dates from the late 1970s / early 1980s but the design is very much midcentury-inspired, undoubtedly influenced by Borge Mogensen. It will mix and match with furniture from different periods too so a great choice for a mixed, modern interior. A very fine, vintage sofa imported from Denmark.
Description
This original, preloved sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The leather upholstery has been surface cleaned with a specialist, nourishing cleaner and the sofa has been thoroughly vacuumed. The black leather upholstery is in very good order on the cushions – it’s thick, soft and supple. There are eight in total with working zips and plump inners, all in very good order. There are very minor signs of wear to the seat cushion tops, a little wrinkling and some light fading (please see our photos) here and there but this is a feature of used leather and very much part of its character and appeal. The fixed leather on the sofa frame is also in good order, hugging the contours of the frame tightly. There is some sunlight fading to the colour, primarily on the back panel and ends – do browse our photos. There are minor surface scuffs to the dark wood legs and to the wooden trim around the lower edge. The sofa is superbly constructed, with no wobbles, creaks or signs of repair. It’s imported directly from Denmark and most likely dates from the late 1970s / early 1980s. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s a fine, quality sofa made with superior construction and top quality leather.
