Vintage 1960s Industrial Teak Post ‘Pigeon Holes’ Shelves

The design may be simple but there are a million and one places and uses for a smart, practical, vintage piece like this in the modern home. It can be used in so many ways from entrance hall for shoes and hats, to bathrooms for towels and toiletries, to bedrooms, to living rooms, to the home office. It’s such a helpful and characterful storage piece. Freestanding and not too tall, its open-front pigeon holes are generous in size and can accommodate a great deal. We love the original, Post In / Post Out signs on the top, adding to its old-fashioned charm. It’s substantial and hard-wearing and dates from the 1960s.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish but otherwise left the original finish in tact. This was once a ‘working’ piece so there are signs of its former life and  wear and tear which is shown accurately across our photos. It’s well constructed in teak and teak veneer so is heavy and robust, ready to withstand much use. There are six generous pigeon holes in total, all with clean, tidy interiors and two further ‘shelves’ on top. The original, painted ‘Post In / Post Out’ markings are on the top and there are some faint paint marks on the hole edges where it was labelled at some point. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s obviously British in origin and dates from the 1960s.
