Original Vintage 1920s Oak Eight Drawer School Cabinet with Brass Handles

For all that this industrial, 1950s, drawer cabinet comes battered and bruised, it has bags of old school charm and character. Bearing the marks and scars of its former working life across its surfaces, it’s nonetheless a handsome, traditional piece offering lots of storage and a vintage look. Slim and tall in stature, this could be put to good use in any room from hall to bathroom to bedroom to living room to utility even. It’s a work-horse piece, heavily used, but this wonderful antique has stood the test of time and has much left to give. It’s hard not to love an historical, old-fashioned item like this. It deserves a happy retirement!

Description

This is a used, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good but original, rustic condition so please do browse our photos to get a good sense of this piece’s condition. We have cleaned the cabinet inside and out and applied a light natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise left the original finish alone, leaving its aging and wear. The eight drawers are well made, the brass handles securely attached and they all slide with ease. The interiors of some are stained with ink and marks from their school days, as shown in our pictures. As you can see, the exterior wood including the drawer fronts is heavily marked, scuffed and chipped, especially the top surface, but our view is this forms a huge part of its charm and appeal. To remove and restore would take away something of its character and history… but that’s just our view. You could opt to renovate it yourself. It’s well-made, solid and stable. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but these are British in origin and date from the 1920s. Do browse our photos for a good sense of condition and colour.
