Traditional Vintage 1950s / 1960s Danish Green Velvet Seater Sofa with Wooden Arms

Here is a traditional, vintage sofa in on-trend green velvet with masses of old-fashioned charm and a good dose of glamour. With super curves and contours, its design is rather feminine with the piped lines accentuating its flow and form. The original velvet is in super condition, feels luxurious and plush, and shows only light signs of wear and tear. It comes with up-turned dark wooden arms with exaggerated round ends, and we love the placement of buttons across the back panels. But it’s those long, frou-frou tassels around the bottom edge that really make this sofa standout – it’s all kinds of wonderful! With neat proportions for a three seat sofa and striking-yet-elegant details, it would bring life to any space it’s put into. And really it could go into any room for an injection of instant character and glamour. It’s comfortable too with a firm, sprung seat and a tall, contoured back. It’s Danish in origin and heralds from somewhere between 1950s-1960s.

Description

This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in good – very good, used condition.  The piece has been thoroughly checked and vacuumed, and the on-show wooden frame buffed with a natural beeswax polish. The olive green velvet upholstery is in remarkably good order considering its years, hugging the contours of the frame tightly and with no threadbare patches or fading to call out. There are just light signs of use which you can appreciate from our photos. The piping cord is well secured in place and in good order too, and the buttons across the back are securely attached.  There are minor knocks and scuffs to the wooden arms and legs. The frame itself is solid and stable (note: despite being small, this is a heavy sofa!) with no creaks or joint concerns. It’s a well-made piece. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but we’ve imported this sofa directly from Denmark and it dates from between 1950s – 1960s – the upholstery underneath tells us this.
