Striking 1960s Danish Gold Pendant Lampshade with Smoky Brown & Teal Perspex Panels

This 1960s Danish pendant lampshade is a stunner and our favourite of them all to date! With an unusual, gold polygon form as its base, it has four multi-layered, thick Perspex panels attached to each side. These are smoky brown in colour and textured, both on the outside with bubbles and further patination inside – they’re wonderfully complex in form, rather Brutalist in their design and style. But the wonder of this lampshade is when you switch it on as the panels reveal show-stopping, vivid teal within the Perspex layers.  Furthermore, the smoky brown turns golden, rather like honeycomb, with the light shining though, and all that texture is illuminated. It’s truly magnificent.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. We have carefully cleaned and fully restored it with new, compliant fittings and with a generous length of fabric-coated, braided flex, ready for it to be wired in to take pride of place on a ceiling. There are some very minor dents and scuffs to the finish on the metal, but they would be barely noticeable, certainly not when elevated and in situ. This wear and tear is what we might expect with a piece of this age and nature. Overall, it’s in superb vintage condition – do browse our photos to get a sense of this. Although no maker’s label, it’s imported directly from Denmark and it dates from the 1960s.
