Set of Four 1970s Plywood Adult-size Church Stacking Chairs – Set #2

These classic, 1970s, beech bentwood, ply stacking chairs come with a great history and bags of character. Acquired from a chapel in Ipswich, they’ve been in active service there for many decades but now it’s time for them to retire into warmer, domestic surroundings! These are full-size, adult scale chairs that are contoured and comfortable – in our experience, chapel chairs and pews are often not. With a design that’s robust and neutral, they would look fantastic around a kitchen table or in a vintage dining room. They come with a shelf underneath, originally where hymn books were stowed and they stack with ease if you only require them occasionally. They come in great order. Again, we usually see these heavily chipped with splits in the ply but not so here. Have a browse through our pictures. They’ve been taken care of, thank the Lord.

Description

This set of four original, vintage chairs is ‘sold as seen’. They are in good, used condition. The frames have been checked and cleaned but otherwise the finish / condition is original. The chairs do carry minor, superficial scuffs and marks here and there but nothing to call out. This wear and tear is light and in line with their considerable age. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of this. The chairs are solid and sturdy with no wobbles. They all have rubber gliders on their feet and stack easily. They have only had one previous owner – a chapel in Ipswich who have too many! Please take a moment to browse through our photos for an accurate sense of wood tone and condition.
