Rare Vintage Ercol Windsor Model 454 Oval Supper Table

Ercol is a name synonymous with finest quality, both in terms of design and build. Its appeal endures, generation after generation, as it’s as popular today as it was back in its heyday. This blonde, oval table from the Windsor range is a rare find. It’s a generous coffee table, branded by Ercol a ‘supper table’, with proportions rather more in line with the midcentury Scandinavian sofa tables of the 1960s. Underneath there’s a large magazine rack for books and periodicals. It’s in super vintage condition with a carefully restored table top which has brought that beautiful solid elm wood grain back to life.

Description

This is an original, Ercol piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. It has been cleaned and the solid elm table top carefully restored with a durable, satin Osmo oil applied, before polishing to give a beautiful finish without stripping away all of its age and character. There are minor marks to the wood, both on the top and to the legs and base, in line with its considerable age but overall its condition is very good – it’s been taken good care of. The table is structurally sound with no repairs or areas of concern. It’s extremely well-made as you would expect. The dark blue Ercol label can be found on the underside of the table. It dates from the late 1960s / early 1970s.
