Rare Mid Century Greaves & Thomas Sideboard / Drinks Cabinet
This neat sideboard is quite the catch. Greaves & Thomas was a highly reputable, British furniture maker, using the finest quality wood and superb craftsmanship to create elegant, timeless designs for the modern home, and more than a match for the Scandinavian midcentury designs of the sixties and seventies. But very few of this smaller sideboard / cabinet were produced. Its proportions make it a really versatile piece. It offers plentiful storage and features a cutlery drawer and a fixed shelf. We love the recessed ebony line that differentiates between the legs and the cabinet, a super note of distinction. A refined piece for the lounge, dining room or family living space.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned and polished this piece applying a natural beeswax polish. The two doors open and close with ease with closures in good working order, and the original aluminium peg handles are securely in place. The interior wood is in very good order, with just a few light marks from use. The removable cutlery tray is in good order too. The exterior wood does carry some minor marks, scratches and scuffs from wear and tear, in line with its age and function. We shown this across our photos so do give them a browse. The sideboard is very well constructed, solid and sturdy with no signs of repair. The Greaves & Thomas label can be seen on the inside door with further labels on the back.
