Original Vintage G Plan Fresco Dressing Table / Desk by VB Wilkins

This is a fine example of G Plan at its very best in its prime, championing the British mid-century design scene. Designed by Victor Wilkins who was behind the ever-popular Fresco range, this 1960’s teak dressing table is in superb, original condition. It’s a substantial piece offering lots of storage with four spacious drawers and a hidden central, velvet-lined drawer too, along with an expansive top surface and a large mirror that can be angled.  This beautifully designed piece is more often used nowadays as a slimline desk minus the mirror which would perhaps suit home working on a laptop. An iconic piece of British vintage furniture that is becoming harder to find and is much sought-after.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall  excellent, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned and polished. It’s an expertly crafted piece of a very high quality construction, featuring dovetail joints and the immediately recognisable Fresco elongated drawer handles. All four main drawers are in good, tidy order internally and they slide with ease. There is an additional hidden vanity drawer in the centre that is black velvet-lined and also in very good order . There are some very minor, very light scuffs to the exterior wood here and there but these are line with the piece’s age. The mirror attaches with two uprights at the back and can be angled by pulling gently at the bottom. It can be easily removed if you would like to use this piece as a desk. The original G Plan sticker is still affixed in the drawer. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of colour and the excellent order of this piece. If you’ve any questions, please do ask.
