Original Vintage Ercol Windsor Model 835 Tall Armchair with Cushions
Never going out of fashion, Ercol’s lounge sofas and chairs are design classics. This model 835 is a particularly handsome model. With a contoured, tall back with multiple spindles, and the signature up-turned arms, this chair looks great from all angles. And the comfort it provides is outstanding. The back cushion is shaped and curved, providing superb support all the way up the spine. The light blond wood frame is of course the standout feature here. It’s in fantastic condition. The original white fabric might not suit but the cushions are in such excellent order, they could be easily and cost-effectively recovered by an upholsterer.
Description
This is an original, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. We have lightly cleaned the wooden frame but have otherwise left this piece alone as it’s in such fantastic order. The seat and back cushion have been reupholstered in very recent years and the Pirelli webbing replaced. The white fabric is in outstanding, clean condition with no marks or signs of wear. The buttons are secure and the zips in good, working order. The shaped back cushion is held in place with Velcro strips which wrap around the spindles. There are minor scuffs and marks to the wooden frame as you would expect with a vintage piece of this nature. One of the supporting arm spindles has moved a little where it joins the arm, a common thing with old Ercol chairs and as a consequence of how they are constructed / joined. We have glued this so there is no further movement. Please refer to our photo. Other than this the chair is solid and sturdy with no wobbles or other signs of repair. The original blue Ercol sticker is affixed to the back of the one of the chair.
