Original Vintage 1960s Ercol Windsor Model 468 Sideboard
This large, elm sideboard by Ercol is a design classic from their ever-popular Windsor range. An expertly constructed piece of furniture that epitomises the form and function aesthetic, where beautiful design meets practicality. Featuring two generous cupboards (one with double doors, one smaller) and two spacious drawers, it’s still such a versatile piece and would be a welcome addition to any modern interior, fitting easily in. This particular model was produced from 1962-1985, and the traditional, naturally aged finish (as opposed to the modern lacquer used in later models) suggests its an early example of this model, dating from sometime in the mid 1960s A classic whose appeal endures generation after generation.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have cleaned and lightly polished it with a natural beeswax polish but have otherwise left the original finish well alone. All three cupboard doors align and their closures work as they should. Inside the right hand cupboard there is a cutlery drawer with adjustable dividers. The main cupboard features a height adjustable shelf. Both bottom drawers slide in and out with each, and the internal woodwork is clean, tidy and in good order. There are some marks and scuffs to the exterior wood, primarily on the top surface, but this is in line with its age and are faint. The sideboard sits on its original castors which move freely and with ease. It’s a beautifully crafted piece as you would expect from Ercol with dovetail joints and the signature oval inset handles. Unfortunately the original label is no longer affixed but with its slightly darker, more natural finish, this looks to be an early piece dating from the early to mid 1960s.
