Original Midcentury Danish Hjornebo Mobelfabrik Teak Cabinet
The perfect vintage small cabinet / dresser for a spot where slimline, neat storage is required. The legs have been added at a later date but they are a perfect match and elevate this cabinet to just the right height. Behind the sliding doors is a fixed shelf and the upper, open shelf and top surface provide space for display or further storage. The design is elegant, unfussy and clean-lined, synonymous with the midcentury aesthetic of the day. The condition is really very good as you might expect from an attributed Danish piece. A really useful, well-made piece and we particularly love the recessed handles.
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have cleaned the cabinet inside and out with a natural beeswax polish but otherwise left the original finish well alone. All interiors are in very clean, tidy order. The two sliding doors move with ease in their runners. There are some very light marks to the exterior finish here and there, including a small dent at the back edge of the top – please refer to our photos. Overall it’s barely noticeable, especially as it’s on the back edge and likely to be against a wall. It’s a well made piece, solid and stable. The legs have been added at a later date but this has been professionally done, and they are beautifully turned in solid teak. The maker’s stamp can be seen on the back of the piece and we believe it dates from the late 1960s / early 1970s.
