Midcentury 1960s ‘Cantata’ Chest of Drawers by Stag

British furniture manufacturer, Stag, made fantastic Scandinavian-influenced, every-day furniture throughout the mid-century under the design tutelage of John and Sylvia Reid, and later, Ronald Carter, who was the design brains behind the Cantata range. The Cantata concept was to keep pieces minimalist and modern in look and economical in size and scale but to max out on storage within. And this neat chest of drawers demonstrates that perfectly offering lots of stow space across its four graduated drawers. Expertly made with the signature, sculpted wooden handles, constructed to last a lifetime and beyond, it comes in fantastic, original condition.

Description

This is an original, vintage chest of drawers that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall good – very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned it, inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but have otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such great order. It’s been taken care of. All four drawers slide with ease, are beautifully made with dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors. All handles are securely attached. There are just light signs of wear and tear on the external surfaces, minor blemishes and marks but nothing to flag. It’s very well-made with no signs of repair or areas of concern. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of this. The original Stag label is in the top left drawer and the piece dates from the 1960s. If you have any questions or would like to view this piece, do get in touch.
