Midcentury Danish Rosewood Bookcase / Shelf Unit by Poul Hundevad
Such a versatile piece, this handsome, rosewood open bookcase / display unit is freestanding and elegantly designed. Danish in origin, it dates from the 1970s and is attributed to renowned furniture maker, Poul Hundevad. For all that the look is classically Scandinavian MCM, simple and clean, there are some considered details like the bevelled edge on the shelf fronts. Move around the shelves to suit your storage and display needs – they’re fully adjustable and slide out on hidden metal rods. Styled thoughtfully, the width of this piece could create an impactful and impressive statement feature in a room, but the shallow depth of just 30cm means it won’t impose.

Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have cleaned the unit and applied a light natural beeswax polish but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such good order. There are six height-adjustable shelves, three on each side. They slot onto hidden metal rods and easily slide out. All the shelves and interior surfaces are in good order with only very light marks from use. As shown, one of the shelves has small holes along its sides, leftover from when there originally would have been dividers in place for vinyl storage. This is discreet though and once there are books and items on display, it’s unlikely to be noticeable. Similarly the exterior wood on the top and sides, and the tapered legs are in very good order too with just minor signs of wear here and there. The solid wood legs have been added at a later date. It’s very well-made, a solid and stable piece. Note: it’s a heavy, large item. The original Hundevad maker’s label can be seen on the back of the piece.
