Handsome Vintage Danish Black Leather Three Seater Sofa
This is an outstanding vintage sofa from its immaculate condition to its timeless design to its maximum comfort. It delivers on all counts! Imported from Denmark it comes with a superb pedigree and its looks are unmistakably midcentury-inspired, emulating Borge Mogensen’s classic sofa design. Clean lines and sharp corners are softened by the out-turned curves at top of the arms and the super soft, feather-filled cushions. This is a very fine sofa from quality of the leather to the superior frame construction. As you might expect it’s very loungy and very inviting, ideal for curling up on with a book, a brew and the dog. And leather is a great choice for a busy family home where sofas see a lot of action.
Description
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the leather both on the six cushions and the fixed upholstery. The leather cushions are very soft and supple with plump inners, all have working zips and are in outstanding order with very few signs of wear to the leather. Likewise, the fixed upholstery on the frame is in superb condition too. There are only very light signs of use, including a superficial scratch on one arm end and a scuff on the back corner, both shown in our photos and both hardly noticeable. The sofa is very sturdy and stable, very well-made and with no signs of repair or areas of concern. The finishing cloth used to cover the bottom of the sofa has been removed. This often happens as they are easily torn and removing them means you can check the frame structure. As this is underneath the sofa this doesn’t show or have any bearing on its function – it just means we can see it’s a very high quality piece. There is no maker’s mark but it’s imported directly from Denmark so has excellent origins. It’s hard to date this style of sofa and there were and still are many makers emulating Borge Mogensen’s classic design. In our experience we would date this sofa to the late 1970s / 1980s as the leather is in such great order. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of it’s exceptional condition.
