Pair of 1960s Afromosia Bedside Tables by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye

Designed by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye in the early 1960s, this pair of elegant bedside stands are something of a find. Constructed in solid afromosia that’s particularly dark and richly toned and this emphasises and accentuates the simple, parred back cut of their design. You don’t get more clean-lined than this. Each stand features a neat lower shelf and a discreet top drawer. We have been unable to find another pair so we believe this model to have only been made briefly. They’re a catch.

Description

This original, vintage pair of bedside stands are ‘sold as seen’. They are in good – very good, used condition. They have been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, and table tops gently sanded and oiled. A natural beeswax polish has been applied to the rest of the wood. The two drawers both slide with ease and have clean interiors. One of the drawers has a small chip on its top, front edge. This isn’t particularly noticeable, especially with the drawer closed but we have shown it in a photo. There are minor scuffs here and there in line with their considerable age. The original Fyne Ladye label can be seen inside one of the drawers, a lovely piece of history captured. They date from the 1960s. Please do browse our photos to get an accurate sense of its condition. If you’ve any questions or would like to view the item, please get in touch.
