Elegant British Midcentury 1960s Dresser / Sideboard by McIntosh

Here is one very beautiful sideboard dresser, designed and manufactured by renowned furniture maker, McIntosh of Kirkcaldy and dating from the 1960s. It’s of the highest quality both in terms of look and construction. Pared back, minimal and elegant, an expertly balanced piece of design. Every dimension, angle and feature is thoughtfully executed. We love the long, narrowing legs and the darker grain of wood used around the bottom edge. There are six drawers so plentiful storage and there is the option to add a large mirror, turning it into a dressing table. And the full width mirror and generous top surface give you ample room to preen and pamper at your leisure.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, and exterior surfaces have been restored. This involved carefully stripping back the original finish, oil and then a hard-wearing wax polish. The six drawers are constructed with dovetail joints, their original wooden handles and they slide with ease on their runners. They have clean, tidy interiors. If you wish to use as a dressing table with the mirror, two uprights screw easily into place at the back and the mirror simply slots on top. The full width mirror can be angled and the mechanisms for this are in good, working order. Overall, there are minor signs of use and wear in line with its considerable age. Please browse our photos for a good sense of its super condition. The McIntosh maker’s label can be seen on the back of the mirror.
