This striking pair of statement armchairs were designed by Otto H Larsen in the 1970s for Søborg Møbler, a highly reputable and long-established Danish fine furniture maker who collaborated with many of the leading midcentury designers of the day from Borge Mogensen to Christian Hvidt. These are the ‘Embassy’ model, a boxy, sharp-lined lounge chair defined by the straight lines and right angles of its mahogany frame. With generous proportions both in width and depth, and a profile that’s dramatic from every side, they are chairs that everyone will be fighting over. Superbly crafted, savour the joints at the four corners and the lines viewed from the side and back. The original wool upholstery is a weave of blue and green to create a bold teal that’s bright but not jarring and it’s fantastic, vibrant order across both chairs. These are brutalist beauties, perfect for a midcentury-inspired interior.
