This medium size, English elm sideboard by Ercol, is a British design classic from the ever-popular Windsor range. An expertly crafted piece of furniture with many of Ercol’s signature features on show, like the dovetail joints on the corners and inset oval handles, it epitomises the form and function aesthetic, where beautiful design meets domestic practicality. The honeyed wood grain across the exterior surfaces, especially the top, is outstanding with so much variance and richness within the patina. The grain is a standout feature of vintage Ercol with later models having a more uniform, plainer finish. With two generous cupboards (one with double doors, one smaller) and two spacious drawers, it’s such a versatile piece and would be a welcome addition to pretty much any room, fitting easily in with pieces of other styles and wood types. This particular 468 model was produced from 1962-1985 and the blue label design on this one dates it to the sixties so a rare, early piece is exceptional original condition.
