As impressive, characterful, vintage desks go, this one is ticking the boxes. Dating from the 1930s, this is a British-origin pedestal desk in solid oak with a green leather inlay on the desktop and huge amounts of storage across eight drawers below. Generous but not too large, there is plenty of space to spread out your work. Design-wise, there is a definite nod to the Art Deco movement with its chunkiness and rounded edges but it’s not overt and is more traditional in style. The really unique thing about this desk is that it can be easily disassembled. The desktop ‘floats’ on the two pedestals, secured in place with dowel pegs. This means it can be dismantled for ease of transportation so ideal for a home with tricky access or if you wished to take it upstairs.
