Designed by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye in the early 1960s, this bureau / secretaire desk is exceptional in every sense. Perfectly balancing function and form, it’s as handsome as it is practical. Constructed from finest quality solid afromosia to give a deeper tone and richer grain than the more commonly favoured standard teak, it has been so thoughtfully designed with lots of signature design features and attentions to detail… like the horizontal, striped texture across the drawer fronts, the raised edge that frames the front of the piece and the top, and lock that sits discreetly to one side, keeping that main upper panel, clean and clear. Bureaus are a fantastic option for homeworking, providing a dedicated work station and lots of storage that can be closed away at the end of the day. And they don’t get better than this.
