Original 1960s Midcentury White & Newton Extending Teak Dining Table

A handsome, well-made, hard-working dining table that dates from the 1960s, made by reputable British manufacturer, White & Newton. Possibly our favourite of their dining tables and a rarer find, this particular model is seldom seen and there are some really unusual design features here. The striking ellipse shape of the legs, the contoured ends of the sides and the flattened side edges. It feels as if they were trying to do something edgier and more modern with the look of this table, and it works. It’s a design that look both midcentury and ‘now’. In its regular mode, it can comfortably seat four diners. Pull the two sides apart to find the hidden, integrated extension with folds out into a central section that can accommodate six people when required. The teak is in fantastic, partially restored order with rich, golden tones and patination. It would match with any style of dining chair.
