Designed by VB Wilkins for E Gomme / G Plan, the ‘Brandon’ range of the fifties and sixties is somewhat overlooked in our view with the later teak Fresco collection more sought-after today (although we do love that too!). The Brandon range has a distinct post-war, utilitarian look to it. Most often made in light oak, this corner cabinet desk is unusually crafted in walnut veneer with the most striking vertical stripes across its exteriors surfaces. But the most remarkable thing about this piece is the thought and energy that has gone into its design. The angles and lines are quite something and they are everywhere you look. Originally this was intended as a discreet secretaire desk with a top drawer that cleverly folds down to create a little desktop. However, this could be used as a dressing table / vanity desk or even a bathroom cabinet.
