Midcentury 1960s Afromosia Coffee Table by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye

This beautifully crafted and very handsome coffee table was designed by Richard Hornby for renowned British furniture makers, Fyne Ladye, in the 1960s. Fyne Ladye almost exclusively used afromosia, an African hardwood, that’s darker and less orange than teak but it became scarcer from 1962 as costs to import it made its use prohibitive. Given its considerable age, the table is in fantastic condition. With a generous lower magazine shelf, it’s the subtle details that elevate this from the ordinary – the grooved table edge, the curves at either end and the low, long, lean profile.
