This grand table with generous, extending proportions is perfect for assembling friends and family around. British-made by renowned furniture maker, White & Newton, in teak, it dates from the late 1960s and it’s been well loved as its in superb condition. It’s unusual in that its extension is so large – at full length it’s over 2.1m. It could comfortably seat up to 8 – 10 people depending on chair size. And yet in regular mode, it’s a ‘standard’ size dining table so this is a great option for homes that like to entertain but don’t have the space for a permanent big table. The extension is integrated into the centre of the table. Pull the two sides apart and with a clever, rotating mechanism, an extra section is added. The teak is in fantastic order with rich, golden tones and patination. We love the robust, substantial design of this table very much, especially the cylindrical legs and the chunky table edges. It’s a lovely change to the usual midcentury features we see in dining tables.
