These early Ercol sideboards have such character. It’s not hard to imagine a 1960’s modern home with a nuclear family bustling around this classic piece of retro furniture. This rare model, in stunning original condition, is much sought with its neat proportion and its splayed beech legs which give it a lighter, less bulky look than later Ercol sideboards. It was designed in 1962 and produced up to 1970 so this old dame comes with heritage and history. Considering its years and use, it’s in near-immaculate order, a testament to Ercol’s fantastic craftsmanship and the hard-wearing solid wood construction. The cabinet is made from solid English elm with Ercol’s signature exposed dovetail joints and those Windsor design oval handles. Each cupboard has a full width, adjustable shelf and the right cupboard has a removable butler’s cutlery drawer with dividers. Such a practical piece of design offering lots of storage, it’s as useful today as it was back in that 1960’s family home.
