Antique Edwardian Oak Bureau with Marquetry Details

A really pretty, little bureau, dating from the early 20th century, it’s not hard to imagine a lady sitting here catching up with her correspondence. Made in solid dark oak, it does comes bruised and scarred, understandably given its years, but it’s very nicely made, solid and sturdy. There are some charming details too including borders of marquetry and a shell cartouche on the fall door. Its proportions are compact but there is plentiful storage and it converts to a work station with pigeon holes in the top cabinet. The fall door creates a desk, supported by two pull-out arms on either side. Pull up a chair and you’re set to work. Less space-hungry than a regular desk, it can be locked when the working day is done. Bureaus are also good options for student rooms to help them get organised with a dedicated but discreet study area. We can arrange fast UK delivery!
