Vintage Midcentury Painted Green Pine Scullery Steps / Ladder
These antique scullery steps / ladders are ever-popular, adding vintage character and interest to any space they are placed into. They can function as shelves, simply as a focal point or of course as useful indoor steps. This particular wooden ladder with six steps is painted a deep forest green which has worn in places adding to its rustic country-cottage charm. They most likely date from the 1940’s onwards.
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, rustic condition. It is solidly made and sturdy with no wobbles but there is wear to the original green paint work as you can see. We have carefully washed these steps but nothing too invasive as we wanted to retain the amazing wood / paint patination. The two hinges at the top of the steps move with ease, expanding and contracting the steps as intended. Likewise, the rope restraints at the base are in good order. Note: when set into ladder mode, the rungs / steps are slightly angled. Although they can be use as shelves like this, as shown in our photo, you may wish to extend the rope restraints so the legs are a touch wider apart and the rungs / steps flatter. Sadly there is no maker’s mark. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of condition.
