Vintage Oak Glass Door Cupboard
A must for the country cottage / farmhouse kitchen, this slim, glass-fronted cabinet is a really nicely made but unfussy piece. We believe it originally sat on top of cabinet as the upper section of a tall dresser but it’s been detached at some point and wall-mounted instead. Deep enough to take glasses and mugs, it would be a welcome and useful storage piece in the kitchen still, but it would also be ideal as a display cabinet, as pictured, or in a bathroom. Its simple design with a subtle edge stripe means it could work in any room.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly clean the cabinet, inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the external wood. The glass doors move with ease and have good, working closures. The interior shelves are fixed in position but you will notice there are discreet side ledges for additional shelves that have perhaps been moved or removed. A couple of the shelves have ring marks on them. There are some small screw holes in the bottom where we believe it was originally screwed to a lower unit or dresser. The external wood is in great shape with very few knocks or scuffs. There is no maker’s mark but we believe it’s British in origin and most likely dates from the 1980s.
