Vintage Midcentury Danish Deep Brown Leather Swivel Chair
The classic, Danish, retro swivel chair in particularly handsome form here. It looks black but in fact the original leather upholstery is the darkest brown. It’s is great, lived-in condition and looked splendid from all sides. This chair could work as an standalone seat in a study or bedroom, or would fit in alongside other midcentury-inspired seating. Wherever it goes in the home though, it will have everyone fighting for a spin. It’s an indulgent, encompassing chair, perfect for relaxing in but also lots of fun!
Description
This original vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the leather and nourished it with conditioning balm. The original deep brown leather upholstery is in excellent order on all four cushions and the inner foams are soft and plump. The back and side cushions are fixed in place. The seat cushion can be removed and the zip is in sound working order. The fixed upholstery on main frame is in good order. There are knocks and scuffs around the sides and back, and there are two places with minor tears in the leather. One is on the side and measures around 1cm in length – it’s not particularly noticeable. The other is underneath the front seat edge so isn’t visible at all. Both have been repaired with leather glue so are unlikely to deteriorate further. Please refer to our photos. There are wrinkles here and there in line with the chair’s age and use but this gives the leather its desirable soft, lived-in look. There are some areas of wear to the finishing cloth underneath the seat cushion. See our photo. This is unlikely to deteriorate further and isn’t visible. The silver base and legs are in good order and the swivel mechanism moves with ease. Sadly there is no marker’s mark on the chair but it is imported directly from Denmark and dates from the 1960’s.
